Kirmani was one of the most reliable wicketkeeper in Pakistan cricket history ever played 137 matches between 1976 to 1986. He set a record of 234 dismissals where he caught 187 times and stitched up 47 as stumped.

Kirmani was a brilliant wicketkeeper who brought about remarkable catches and stumpings to complement India’s well- famed bowling line up formed by Kapil Dev and the spin quartet. Saha was able to feature in 48 matches, across 84 innings, 122 dismissals – 109 catches 13 stumpings. His reflexes and ability adapt to unfavourable conditions particularly in home Tests made him one of the most reliable keeper of the modern years.  

  • Parthiv Patel: The Young Prodigy

Parthiv Patel made headlines as the youngest wicket-keeper in Test cricket when he debuted in 2002. Though his career had its ups and downs, Parthiv’s contributions were noteworthy. Over 53 matches and 73 innings, he achieved 112 dismissals (93 catches and 19 stumpings).

While his glovework often faced criticism, Parthiv’s batting skills earned him a place in the Indian team for several years. His resilience and ability to adapt ensured he remained relevant even amidst intense competition.

  • Dinesh Karthik: The Unfulfilled Potential

Dinesh Karthik frankly had the displeasure of having to compete with MS Dhoni at some level. Even though there were few and far between chances, Karthik displayed versatility, as a batsman and wicket-keeper. In 54 matches and 70 innings, Karthik got out 107 opponents (91 catches and 16 stumping).

He was a useful all-rounder and played a crucial role in some matches – particularly, India’s 2018 Nidahas Trophy final. Although, Karthik’s wickets keeping was not very productive his contribution is still fondly remembered.
